Log jam for the 4 and 5 CUSA hoops tournament bye

  • Wow, big log jam essentially for the 4 and 5 spots in conference with us, Tulsa, and UAB all tied at 7-7 (see below). Fortunately we have the head-to head advantage against these other teams, and Tulsa probably did us a little favor last night beating Tulane. If we look at this week's schedule (also below), we would probably squeak in with one win this week for the 1st round bye -- even if UAB can somehow muster one win this week and Tulane does not sweep the week beating us and Houston. We win both games this week and it's a lock. I think that's right. We need to purge last night's domination and get to business regardless.

    UAB plays UCF and Memphis this week (that will be tough)
    Tulsa plays SMU and Rice (easier road)

  • i dont see Tulsa losing again. and UAB wont beat both UCF and Memphis. Tulane is a must win and we should be OK.

  • Its disheartening to think about what could have been when we played UTEP and USM in Greenville. Its just such a fine line between winning and losing and we need to learn how to close out games. You win both of those games and you are tied for 3rd with UTEP. Our record is what it is but it could and should have been so much better. Just win these last two games at home and it gives us a bye for the first time. That should do wonders for our legs and we are going to need to be hitting our outside shots in order to have a chance.

    couldn't have said it better. We close out those two games and eliminate the wtf loss to Campbell and this season goes from good to very good. Hope we close out strong with two wins at home.

    That UTEP loss is going to sting for a while when it comes to seeding. ECU could be sitting pretty in third place right now.

  • 8-8 should get us a bye as we will own the tiebreaker against UAB if they win 1 of the next 2. Not sure who owns the tiebreaker between us and Tulane if it comes to that. Anyone know? Likely playing Tulsa in our first tourny game so just need to beat them at their place again. Win the next one, against Tulane, and lets have some fun on senior night!

  • Slight technicality but the game is at the BOK center so its not @ TU's arena where we won earlier

  • Long as we get that first round bye we have a chance to win this thing. The way we can shoot the ball we can beat any team in the tournament. I would prefer to play Memphis as early as possible so we still have our legs for that game.

    Couldn't agree more. Three games is doable. Four games probably isn't.
