  • Disagree with the 'even' assessment of our running game vs. their D. We will go big on them. Our OL will dominate their DL. This is a clear ECU advantage, IMO.

  • maybe but the numbers don't lie. ECU has far from a power running game.

I agree this is a much clearer advantage than ECU's pass defense vs Memphis pass offense. I'd probably have put that one even and given us the advantage against their run defense.

I get where you're coming from, but I just can't trust ECU's running game. Averaging 3.4 yards per carry and the commitment to it every week varies. Like I said in the analysis, if the commitment is there, I think ECU can have a big day and rush for 150+. If not, then they could rush for 50. You just never know.

I had trouble with both of them really, but when i watched the Rice game what stood out to me was how easy Rice beat Memphis' front at times. Point blank is I like ECU's pass rush over Memphis' pass protection, and that's usually half the battle. Memphis has two good receivers, but Karam is nothing more than a game manager (very similar to Lamaison of UTEP). If ECU gets pressure, there will be lots of 3 and outs and maybe some turnovers, too.

  • Personally I can't see our running game or pass defense getting an edge even against the little sisters of the poor.

True, Memphis' rush defense is just so terrible that I think Coop has another 100+ rushing day. I still don't trust our secondary at all. I have more faith in our OL than that group. I've seen our OL open holes against bad teams, I haven't seen us really cover anyone's receivers so we'll have to get a lot of pass rush or there will be more open receivers.

If ECU comes out running the ball early and often, I too think Coop has a big game. ECU has the advantage in talent, size and depth in the trenches.

Also, Memphis' passing attack is pretty horrible statistically, only averaging 159 passing yards a game. If ECU's secondary can't stop that, then there's no hope.

Tend to agree with Bonds here (& in many posts lately, dude must be getting smarter, lol). My .02 here:

-Sure hope we have the run game edge over a team that allows 190 yd rushing per game, espec. a power Def team like the Memphis El Tigros.
-UM Pass vs ECU Pass Def, at this time, not ready to give our pass Def the edge over any team that has studied the concept of the forward pass, but I DO look forward to them proving me wrong (our front 3 & OLBs are darn good, our 4 DBs not so much).

All that said, Stephen is normally 'da man' & will likely be spot on here. Just win Pirates, don't care how, but just win (actually beat the snot out of this team plz...pray)
