What the........What was the reasoning behind this change? Totally lame and gives a team with no timeouts little chance at setting up a FG in the game's final seconds.

So damn stupid. Coaches will find ways around that. You can run a quick slant and throw it at the guys feet in less than four seconds....

Spike rule stems from this...

I fail to see how that should cause the rule to change. It was a one-time situation and he simply didn't get the spike off in time. That shouldn't mean the rule should change.

i think its because teams that do it that late usually do it because they screwed up and either were fooled by the defense or late getting to the line. If a team is spiking it before 4 secs its usually to stop the clock. Under 4 secs and its to avoid getting penalized, taking a timeout, or running a bad play. Even though its a loss of downs it essentially benefits the offense and is a get out of jail free card. Rule makes sense but its still weird. i think its a bit to picky.

It's pretty simple if you deliver a blow above the shoulders you're subject to ejection. In todays world any hit above the shoulders that could
cause a concussion will be called. Look no farther the NFL and all the lawsuites being filed .... college football is next. They're is
a contingent out there that wants to shut football down.

The refs are in a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. No one will be happy with them.

Here are two examples that will get you ejected ... pretty cut and dry. You leave your feet and hit anywhere above the shoulders you're gone.
