RB rotation

  • Who thinks it's being handled well at this stage? Don't know about you guys, but I'd love to see more Furr and Cooper.

  • Was not aware we had an RB's after watching last week.

  • hell. I just want to see us try and run the ball period. now that Carden is in there, let's throw some zone read options at the d.

I think you'll see a little of that and more Cooper this week.

  • Maybe I'm too simple minded to be making this judgement. Maybe my prowess when it comes to the Xs and Os isn't up to snuff. I'm not discounting that possibility. But to me, the biggest problem with our running game thus far has been our passing game. Our qb and WRs have not been able to adequately strike fear in the hearts of defenses through our first 2 matchups. They have been able to control our ability to move the football through the air, despite our obviously talented receiving corps, without committing additional resources to the effort. They haven't had to gamble dropping a couple lbs back into coverage because their secondaries can't handle our spread passing attack. If SC is able to change that, I believe it will really open things up in terms of our ability to run the football.

That being said, I would like to see VC more. I think the HF love-fest is a bit premature at this point.

Like I said, I am not as well versed in the intricacies as the rest of you, and I have never claimed to be. Just my two cents.

  • I'd like to see Furr more in short yardage situations. We have only seem glimpses of him, but it appears he always just lowers his head and hits the gap...HARD. And when he is tackled he always falls forward, picking up an extra yard or 2

I don't know. South Carolina wasn't exactly loading the box against us and we refused to run the ball for an entire half.

  • The best thing I've seen from Dobson was a blitz pickup against SC where he filled and smacked a guy right in the mouth. Was a thing of beauty. I think he's a decent all-around back but he doesn't have blazing speed, he's not very elusive, and he's not going to run you over. He just gets what is there. I like what I've seen from Cooper with the ball in his hands the most so far. I do think Dobson is getting most of the reps for his all around ability(blocking/catching/running).

I do like the idea of Furr for short yard situations, the problem being we don't have many of those...

  • I went back and rewatched some of the game. Furr was just laying people out left and right on kickoffs. don't understand why we brought the guy in as a physical presence if we aren't going to use him anyway? I like Dobson and Bullock but they just go down so easily at the first sign of contact. We need to be able to break arm tackles.

  • When we get to the goal line, Hunter Furr should run the rock. Cooper should be our primary back.

I agree with this, I think Cooper may be our most talented back with the ball in his hands and I believe Bullock should be moved way down the depth chart due to the fact that he doesn't or is incapable of blocking.

Only problem with that is we haven't gotten to the goal line yet this year
